The Herend manufactory owes its fame to the special beauty and uniqueness of the manypilicious hand-decorated services. The masters are always skillful in renewing the motifs of the services consisting of thousands of pieces and based on centuries-old craft traditions and adapting them to the expectations of new customers
The decoration is inspired by the motifs of 16th-century Japanese kakemono porcelain. The composition of stylized flowers from the Far East around tiny rosettes characterizes the ornamental pattern. The lively design owes its name to a worshipper, Baron Waldstein, who, in 1842, commissioned such a Herend service with the family crest and the motto: "per laborem et dolorem ad honorem.
