Tapio Wirkkala collaborates with Venini

Eminent artist and designerTapio Wirkkala helped make the Finnish school famous throughout the world. When Wirkkala designed his first objects for Venini, in the mid-1960s, he was already a world-renowned figure, with prominent projects in the various fields of design.

The activity in Venini represented an interesting phase of his versatile career and at the same time, profoundly influenced the Murano glassmaking world. It was the Designer who enhanced the "Incalmo" technique, which he often combined with "mezzafiligrana" and "murrine," thanks to the skill of the master glassmakers and the rich color palette. His works can be found in major museums around the world.
