The Herend manufactory owes its fame to the particular beauty and uniqueness of its many hand-decorated services. The masters are always skilful in renewing the motifs of the services consisting of thousands of pieces and based on centuries-old craft traditions and adapting them to the expectations of new customers.
The 'Victory' decoration by Fischer Mor made the manufactory world famous in the early 1850s. Yellow, red, blue and purple roses, butterflies and other small insects make up the oriental-inspired but Hungarian-style decoration, which was a huge success at the London World's Fair in 1851. In addition to the gold medal awarded by the jury, the recognition was also due to the fact that Queen Victoria of England herself, after whom the tarsi was named, ordered the 'Butterfly' service for Windosr Castle.
